Many consumers trust Philips. For years, the brand has been a popular choice when it comes to cellphones, PC merchandise, televisions, lighting and accessories. At present, Philips continues to make a mark in the industry, this time with medical alert systems. It offers the Philips Lifeline Medical Alert Service, which proves to be a great choice among all other medical alert systems out there.
Reliability
Philips has always been a reliable name in the consumer electronics industry, and now it extends the same reliability to its medical alert system. Falls are common among the elderly, and Philips seeks to provide a product that will guarantee quick and easy access to help in case of a fall or an emergency. The Philips Lifeline Medical Alert Service provides emergency help through innovative technology and a variety of equipment. There are three options for the personal help button alone: classic, slimline and the AutoAlert. The AutoAlert is the most reliable of all three; it can detect a fall and will automatically place a call for help if the person is unable to press the button. As for the console, there are two options: the CarePartner Communicator and the Cordless Phone Communicator. The former has a back-up battery that will last for 15 hours, while the latter has up to 30 hours of back up power for Help Calls and an additional hour for regular calls. This means the systems will still work even when there is a power outage.
Ease of Use
The Philips Lifeline Medical Alert Service is technologically advanced compared to other medical alert systems, but it works the same way. It is used the same way as all others available in the market: pressing the personal help button will send a signal to the monitoring center, and a trained Response Associate will speak with the individual through the base console. All Philips Communicators have voice amplification features, so the person will hear the conversation clearly, regardless of the location in or out of the house. All personal help buttons from Philips are easy to use, but the AutoAlert sets itself apart because it can call for help even if the button is not pushed. It was designed to detect a fall and can send a help signal if the person becomes unconscious.
Price
The Philips Lifeline Medical Alert Service is not expensive, but the monthly rate is more than most medical alert systems out there. The price can be attributed to the fact that Philips is a known name and brand recognition does come with a price. The Lifeline Medical Alert Service from Philips costs a bit more than a dollar a day. Nonetheless, the specific price depends on the equipment and services chosen, as well as the Lifeline program nearest the consumer.
Overall
The Philips Lifeline Medical Alert Service is one of the most innovative in the market. It is a great option for those who want to live independently, but the consumer will be spending more money to receive its top notch service.

I got the Lifeline for our mother because she wanted to live in the house where she grew up in. Unfortunately, the location was rather remote; she was not only a few miles away from us, but she was also hours away from the nearby town! I thought it was a bad idea but she couldn’t be convinced to live elsewhere. My sister suggested that we get a medical alert service for her. I choose Philips because it was a trusted brand. In case there was any problem, I’d have the company answer to me. So far, we haven’t had any problem with the service. My mother called for help a couple of times, and the response was always fast. The most impressive thing about the unit was its range; it can function many yards away from the house. When my mother fell by the mailbox, she was still able to get help even when the speaker box was inside! The unit can also detect conversation meters away. Customer service is also worth noting. Everyone from the sales personnel to the operators to the responders were very professional and very nice. I have absolutely no regrets with choosing Philips Lifeline!
Danger … my mother paid for this service for three years, and last week, while suffering a near fatal asthma attack, when she pushed the button, they failed to respond. Fortunately she survived. The doctor confirmed the next day that she had a serious attack and was lucky to have survived. When we challenged Lifeline, they only made excuses and claimed they thought the call was a test. Seriously!? If not sure, shouldn’t every call be an emergency? We are changing companies, and will recommend to everyone we know to avoid Lifeline. They are unreliable. Is your loved one’s life worth risking?
