Too bad they are not customer friendly. I disconnected the system when my Mom went into the hospital and tried to get them to stop the service at the beginning of the next month since she was not there to use it. They refused to refund the remaining month until they received the equipment, even though it had been disconnected for a week and I gave them the UPS tracking number. Seems a bit unfair since you are required to pay 3 months in advance. I disconnected on Sept 24 mailed it on Oct 2 with proof of mailing, but no dice. Unwilling to refund any part of it October fees.
I had used Med Alert for another family member previously, but this is the end of my service with this company. There are so many to choose from.
As with many of us, we cannot predict our circumstances for 3 months. After being a loyal customer since 2007, I really felt this was beyond the pale. I would not use them again.
Everything was fine with 1-800-Med-Alert in the beginning. I got the medical alert system for my mother-in-law. Because my husband and I changed our numbers, we wanted to report the changes in my mother-in-law’s emergency contact list. It didn’t seem that easy to make this change, but eventually we got in touch and everything was ironed out. Overall, the system is doing the job and we’ve had no other issues.
I got my mother the 1-800-Med-Alert. Because of my husband’s work, we had to move to another state. I was forced to leave my mother alone, and she said she didn’t mind. She was strongly opposed to assisted living, and was able to convince me that she can manage all by herself. For my mother’s safety and my peace of mind, I got her the medical alert. There were a couple of instances that she did need help, and I’m glad all she had to do is press the button. Mary, the Subscriber Care Coordinator, is very nice and helpful. She made me feel that my mother was VIP and that her welfare is always their priority. The service is wonderful and I have no regrets.
