I’ve been working in the recreation industry for years. I do personal training and have been involved personally in all types of sports and activities throughout my life. Therefore, I understand how hard it can be to find things that you like to do that are also suitable for the climate that you’re living in. Fortunately, you can take advantage of my experience to help you find things to do. Here are 5 great ways to stay active and keep going, regardless of where you live:
-Check out indoor sports and activities. If your community has a recreation center or community center, you might be able to enjoy climate-controlled fun year-round. There are a lot of different activities that you can partake in, from indoor golf to aerobics and everything in between. Take advantage of this.
-Have fun at home. It sounds simple, but it’s really something people overlook. Instead of going out to the driving range with your buddies, invite them over for some type of activity. If you don’t have a lot of space to work with, this might not be effective, but it is an option to consider.
-Buy a Wii. You might not be video-game savvy, but you’ve likely got children or grand children who can show you the ropes. Plus, with the Wii, you can get involved in fitness games, sports, and other fun games that will keep you moving and keep you feeling young. Video games aren’t just for kids.
-Go to the mall. Whether you like shopping or not, this is a great place to get in a few laps if you need some exercise and the outside weather is less than pleasant. A lot of people rely on their local shopping centers for exercise, and you can even take your friends along. If you do want to shop, it’s just an added bonus.
-Buy fitness DVDs. There are so many different activities that you can do at home, right in front of your TV. It doesn’t matter what the weather’s like outside because you can get the activity that you want without going anywhere.
