Staying Healthy Till Summer: Beat the Winter Bugs

Everyone seems to get sick more often in the winter months. While some people claim that it’s the weather, it actually has more to do with people being cooped up in their homes because the weather is less than appealing to them. Regardless, there are a lot of ways that you can avoid getting sick during the winter months, no matter what you have in mind. I’ve been in the health industry for a lot of years and while I certainly don’t have the cure to the common cold, I know a lot of great ways to stay healthy, no matter what the setting or weather might be.


In the winter months, it’s all about keeping things clean. Because our houses are all closed up in most climates, it’s easier for germs to grow and spread. Therefore, if you can use sanitizing products to clean your house on a regular basis, you’ll have much more luck staying germ-free. Also, try airing things out on a balmy day. Fresh air is good for you and your home, and when you have an unseasonably warm day you should take advantage of it.


A simple multivitamin can do a lot more for your health than you might realize. You can even get vitamins that focus on immune support so that you can get exactly what you need out of them. It’s going to be up to you to take the time to explore your options, but it shouldn’t be hard to find what you need. Also, eating more fruits and veggies can be helpful. It’s harder because they’re typically out of season, which makes them harder to find and more expensive, but they can help give you the vitamins that you need, as well.


There are plenty of ways to stay healthy in the winter months, including staying away from people that you know are sick. Even if someone just has a cough, you have no idea what’s causing it. Don’t cut yourself off from society, of course, but make sure that you cautiously choose your company so that you don’t put yourself at risk unnecessarily.
